State Agora

State Agora
The State Agora was built in the Roman Period in the first century B.C. This agora was used not for commerce but for business and played an important role as a meeting place for the governmental discussions. The agora is 160x73 meters, with stoas or halls, on three sides and a temple in the center dating from the 1st century A.D. At the center was a sundial and a water clock, now occupied by this stand of trees.
The Agora was the most important trade centre in Efes (Ephesus), Turkey.
